Workshop: Digerati Girls Digital for a Day

Description:

Each workshop is themed for a different digital career type. Each workshop features live speakers who work in that industry and students build either a mobile app or a website based on that industry. Topics include: Media / AdTech, FashionTech / Wearables, Global Girls In Tech, MedTech / Veterinary Sciences, and Tech Startups.

FashionTech / Wearables: The goal of this workshop is an introduction to fashion tech and wearable technology careers. Students will learn the basics behind creating their own fashion tech based logic and products as well as get to experiment with several current products in the space: Google Glass, FitBit, etc.Technology experts will visit providing both perspective and mentorship as students complete workshop goals.

Global Girls In Tech: The goal of this workshop is host our global simulclass. Digerati Girls Detroit students will collaborate with Digerati Girls London students to create a “top secret” coding project together. Students will learn the basics behind creating their own global project as well as get to experiment with several current tech products & apps in the space. Technology and startup experts will visit providing both perspective and mentorship as students complete workshop goals.

Media / AdTech: The goal of this workshop is an introduction to social & digital media careers. Students will learn the basics behind creating their own digital media based products as well as get to experiment with several current adtech products & apps in the space. Technology and experts will visit providing both perspective and mentorship as students complete workshop goals.

MedTech / Veterinary Sciences: The goal of this workshop is an introduction to health & medical technology careers. Students will learn the basics behind creating their own medical & veterinarian-based technology based logic and code as well as get to experiment with several current medtech products & apps in the space. Technology and experts will visit providing both perspective and mentorship as students complete workshop goals.

Tech Startups: The goal of this workshop is an introduction to careers in the tech startup industry. Students will learn the basics behind launching their own tech startup as well as get to experiment with several current medtech products & apps in the space. Tech Startup experts will visit providing both perspective and mentorship as students complete workshop goals.

Objective: Students will explore a specific digital career, design & create mobile apps related to that career and learn from special guest speakers.
